Special thanks to Luca Fiore at Valkaline Productions and everyone involved in this including participating rock lotto members from The Love Machine, Miss Polygamy and The Indefinite Project :)

This was a lot of fun to shoot.  My good friend Luca conceptualized and shot it last week with some friends I roped in knowing they could deliver the most ridiculous responses to what the Ottawa Rock Lottery should be all about.  I was beside myself trying not to laugh the whole time and I’m sure a lot of the footage with me was useless because I kept bursting into laughter.

Honestly, on any given night, this is pretty much how you’ll find me.  Rocking out to live music… front row, left stage.  I interviewed Braids  here.  Their album, Native Speaker, is one of my forerunners for best of 2011 already.

That was the first time I wore that particularly sparkly dress.

I also found this a while ago from my first night with Hot 89.9 FM. I was a little shocked at his questions, can you tell?

Ottawa Rock Lottery

We just got our poster back!  How cool is this?  The very talented Steve St. Pierre designed it.

We’re shooting a web-commercial tonight for it that will be hilarious.

I got a whole page in last week’s Metro News Ottawa Table section.  I’m so excited to be writing for them.  They’ve got a circulation of 90,000 a day! My editor called and assigned the charity story to be done in only a few hours a day before- I wanted to do it of course but the irony was that I was going to go buy groceries at that moment. Well, I thought, might as well go write about food instead!  I’m loving the new challenges it’s presenting; i have a hard time writing anything less than 1,000 words and now it’s like, write an article in 50-100.

I was invited to be in The Murder Plans‘ music video for their amazing song, “Tell a Lie,” this weekend.  The concept is based on the album sleeve image except that instead of the four guys, it’s a group of their friends in quick jump cuts singing the song in the same shot in the same clothes… and glasses.  Which made reading the cue cards a bit difficult, but Michael the singer sang along with me the whole time.  Here are some stills from it.

Waiting for my cue. Some of the clothes were huge! (I'm wearing a skirt underneath!)

That's the Ottawa River behind me. Same image as their album cover.

I think I'm eyeing the tambourine here... I'm wearing my friend Nick's clothes here.

Singing!

I was supposed to look like this guy:

REALLY singing. Great lyrics to this song! All about Ottawa!

Thanks so much guys, this was a lot of fun!  Goodluck with the editing!

R-A-D-I-OH!

I’ve always been really passionate about radio.  I listen all day to various channels and podcasts as I work and go about my day.  This includes an hour of opera and classical over the lunch hour as part of my routine.

Since I was 19 I’ve had two shows of my own and been a guest host, contributor or panelist on 8 radio stations and programs.  I miss it.

Last week I got to sit down with 93.1 FM CKCU’s A Juncture crew.  You can listen to the whole podcast at the below link!  They interviewed me about Apt613.ca, writing, and my role in the local arts scene. Thanks again for having me!

I am interviewed and am charming at 18:00, 33:00 and 46:00.
