I finally got to see Kevin Smith this past weekend. I’ve been following his work closely since I first stumbled on his Evening with Kevin Smith Special in college. Before that I had just thought Dogma was overly crass and wondered what that quiet guy was really doing in the film. No more. Now I listen to his podcasts weekly and have a stack of his books on my bookshelf. (I highly recommend Tough Shit!, it’s very inspirational.) It’s not just the humour, it’s his can-do attitude that I really admire. He doesn’t believe in impossible, he believes in trying and if it fails, it fails but at least he’s attempted to make that thing or film possible.
I had attempted to get into contact with his press folks for an article and only Ralph Garman, his co-host for Hollywood Babble-On was doing press.
Cough, cough. The signed DVDs, screenplays, and run in with Jason Mewes in university also support my fascination with all things Kev Smith. He was really really high at this recording and kept talking about Glosette Chocolate Peanuts as his code for what he was on.
